ROCKY BOY, MONTANA

Wiley assisted a geotechnical engineering firm with a geotechnical investigation to gather soil data for the design of a 46-mile roadway improvement project. Ninety-two soil borings were advanced as part of this project using direct push drilling methods. Samples were collected via continuous soil coring and SPT split spoon samplers. Wiley’s Geoprobe 3100GT was utilized for this project, which was ideal for quick mobilization between boreholes. This project was unique in that it crossed both state and tribal jurisdictions. It was also a challenge due to utility corridors and overhead power limiting access.
